About us
Wikimedia Rwanda, a non-profit organization based in Rwanda ( registered with the Rwandan government as OPEN SOURCE KNOWLEDGE RWANDA) dedicated to advancing Open Knowledge in Rwanda. This involves the creation and improvement of articles on Wikimedia Foundation project websites in Kinyarwanda, English, French, and Swahili. Additionally, the organization invests in projects that educate and train various Rwandan communities about Wikimedia, with a specific emphasis on promoting Kinyarwanda usage

🎙️Meet Ndahiro Derrick Alter
Ndahiro is a passionate Rwandan advocate for peacebuilding, open knowledge, gender equality, and youth engagement in governance. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (Gender Studies & Criminology) from Makerere University and a Master’s Degree in Development and Gender Studies from the University of Rwanda.![]()
He is the founder of Open Source Knowledge Rwanda (Wikimedia Rwanda), a nonprofit working to make free, open knowledge about Rwanda more accessible, with a strong emphasis on Kinyarwanda usage.![]()
His work continues to empower communities and amplify local voices in the digital knowledge space. 💥![]()
